In this creative course, students will be guided by the instructor through an exploration of various mixed-media tools, mediums and techniques. Participants will engage in focused exercises with the concepts of design, composition, mark-making, and color in a visual journal, on paper, and on canvas. Developing a growth mindset alongside a sense of play andexperimentation, students will discover new ways of seeing with a constructivist spirit. As students delve into the exercises, they will gain a better understanding of how to be more intentional yet deepen the expressionistic, intuitive, and personal side of 2D art-making in a variety of mediums. Over the six weeks, students will collaborate, share and build on their skills and insights, culminating in a final artwork that embodies their refined creative perspectives, tools, and techniques. No experience is necessary. This course is for people who want to broaden their skills and creative expression through various mediums in a nurturing, explorative community.
