This class introduces a retirement framework centered on Growth, Access, and Predictable Income, as well as the 4-Box Strategy for aligning assets with income needs. Whether you're early in your career, preparing for retirement, or already retired, you'll gain practical insights and strategies designed to enhance financial security and support your long-term goals. Introduction to Music Technology EXPR 062.51, CRN 36712
Music technology is a broad field of disciplines that includes topics such as recording and mixing, live sound, synthesis, and hardware performance. This course will cover accessible techniques in these fields, focusing on tools that will empower students with the ability to engage with music technology in their lives. Curriculum will include microphones, digital audio workstations (DAWs), musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), live-sound setups, digital and hardware synthesizers, hardware performance, and other topics in music technology based on the interest of the students. By the end of the course students will be able to record and mix audio to produce audio projects, set up and control live sound scenarios, and gain a deeper understanding of electronically-produced music and the hardware used to make it. College Application Organization CRER 102.51, CRN 36885
This class is recommended for high school students and their guardians. This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of the college application process. Participants will explore key components, including application essays, extracurricular activities, volunteer experiences, and letters of recommendation. The course is designed to help students and families determine where to begin and how to stay organized throughout the process. Participants will create a personalized organizational system, including a binder and structured Google Docs, to manage essay prompts, scholarship applications, and important deadlines efficiently. In addition to this course, two complementary classes (Scholarship Search and Researching Summer Programs) are being offered to further enhance participants' knowledge and understanding. Although this course is beneficial as a standalone offering, enrollment in all three courses will provide the most comprehensive educational experience to prepare high schoolers for their next steps.
